2 Days to Go...

This is a late throwback Thursday post...
I was talking to my mum last night about ageing and getting older and said to her that I feel I'm reaching the age where I look haggard without make up...
This last week I have not worn an ounce of make up - not even a smidgen of mascara! But I feel that I do look a little rough!
So here's a throwback to how I looked this time last year!
Changed a lot haven't I!?!

3 days to go...

A New Outfit for the Occasion...

Zara is one of my favourite shops...probably because it is more sophisticated and glamorous than most shops on the high street. I also love the fact that most of the clothes ooze high-fashion as they are more closely inspired by catwalk designs than many other high-street chains.

So when it comes to looking for a dress for a smart-casual occasion such as my birthday it is one of the first shops I headed to. Their new season collection is a mix of pastels and nautical items and I loveeeee all of it! I am particularly loving their 3/4 lightweight coats that everyone is buying at the moment - my favourite is the pale blue one as I am not sure I could pull off canary yellow.

So here are my top Zara purchases on the website at the moment...maybe Ill be forced into buying one for my birthday?! Its such a shame you can't have multiple outfit changes for just one day!

4 days to go...

It appears that I have become a bit of a shoe addict over the last month and have spent rather a lot of money on different pairs of heels.

I saw a bargain on a few pairs and just couldn't say no! Then there is no excuse on the others - they were just irresistible!

Over the last 5 years I have consistently struggled to find shoes to fit and have to stick to a pair once they do except for boots which are fine with a pair of thick socks!

I'm a 6.5 and most shops jump from 6-7 which frankly is a bit unfair! I have missed out on many gorgeous pairs of shoes in the past because of my narrow and odd sized feet and lanky toes!

However I have discovered that size 6 now fits me...maybe the shoes in the shops got bigger or my feet shrank - who knows! But anyway, in some shops I can now squeeze my ginormous boat feet into a size 6 pair of shoes!

Here are the shoes that I have bought and am planning to wear over my birthday celebrations!
The nude ones are from M&S but the rest are from Reiss!

Everybody loves to save money...especially when purchasing beautiful things...

I adore Cath Kidston. I am one of those people who loved her prints way before she was cool for school and before she had a shop in practically every city and was a household name!
Now Cath is everywhere...her range is expanding and expanding and I see more and more beautiful things I want and need!

Since I am a student and one who really likes to save money and get bargains.
I thought I would dedicate a blog post to my best picks of the Cath Kidston online sale section which has some beautiful things for a bargain price!

How cute is this bento box!?! And at only £4.50 its a steal! This would deffinately have made me the coolest kid at school and would be perfect for my packed lunches when I head to law school - it is slightly more grown up than my Hello Kitty one!

As I said in a previous blog post - a teapot is on my birthday wishlist and this one jumped out at me because of the matching accessories which are soo cute! A Teapot, cup & saucer, cake plate and milk jug all for less than £30 - you really can't say no!

Its pink. Its a Cath Kidston Print. It can be used for baking/cooking - what a way to make some of my favourite past times better!?!

These deffinately fulfill all your travelling needs! How beautiful would this make your travel documents - rail pass, tickets and passport can all be housed in a beautiful Cath Kidston container! These also help you stay organised which is essential when travelling - I always make the mistake of putting tickets in a pocket and lose them - just like when I lost my disneyland paris park ticket in the depths of my bag!

Had a mare earlier...my lightweight jacket was not waterproof and it poured it down...safe to say I got drenched...I really should have thought about what I was wearing before I left...a hat is nowhere near as good as a hood...so this would have be perfect for protecting me earlier!

While I was on the site, I could not resist having a sneaky look at the new additions...and spotted this gorgeous new print! And its all over these lovely baking items!

5 Days...

Its not long now until my Birthday Celebrations officially begin. This Birthday appears to have become a sprawling mass of celebrations that last about a week! (And then a bit extra as I will be meeting a few more friends the following week!)
And I am very very excited!

Celebrations begin with afternoon tea at Granny's Attic with my Aunty & Uncle

Followed by Dinner & Drinks with the Lovely Kirsty at Bawtry

A Night in Birmingham ready for my Job Interview.

A Couple of Nights in Dublin with my Housemates!

A Trip to Bingo with my Lovely Friend Charlotte - because we really need to win the iPad or the £1000!

And a cup of tea, a slice of cake and a catch up with my dear friend Katie!

6 Days to Go...

So Its now 6 days until my Birthday which means I am getting rather excited. One thing I am particularly excited about is my Birthday Cake. Usually my Mum forgets or runs out of time to make me one. But this year, she's making a particular effort to ensure I get a Mummy-Cake.

I am not a great lover of Birthday Cake so as long as its pretty and its not burnt I am a happy girl, however after my Masterpiece that was Charlotte's Birthday Cake my Mum now has alot to live up to! Particularly since my last birthday cake was a bit of a flop...

I am not a huge lover of Victoria Sponge Cake and will generally choose a flavoured cake when confronted with a cake trolley in a tea room...
The only Victoria Sponge Cake I truly could have scoffed the lot of, was my 18th Cake made by the Brilliant Aunty Betty!
But generally I will choose Lemon Cake, Carrot Cake or an Almond and Raspberry Cake!

Then Icing is a tough choice. I dislike butter-cream and yet I love Vanilla frosting and I dislike tons of Fondant Icing. So I really am a tough cookie for baking a cake for!

I know my Mum is surprising me with my cake but that doesn't stop a cake lover and baker from having a browse.

I spotted this cake on Instagram as it was made for MissGuided's Birthday. I love how it is pastel colours and covered in sweeties! If it were made for me though, there would be a big 'R' on the top!

I love cupcakes - who doesn't!?! And these are particularly beautiful; delicate, pastel spring-like colours and shabby chic style.

Inspired by my future trip to NYC?!

My Love of Shopping - in Cake Form!

Or maybe a friends themed cake?

Or a Disney Cake?

Some of my favourite Musicals are on this cake!

This is simple but Cath Kidston.

I really fancy trying a Cake Pop!

Surely this cake was made for me - Rebecca & 21 & Cute & Pretty & Shabby Chic & Cath Kidston....P.E.R.F.E.C.T. (Almost!)
