All the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust.

I recently went to Stratford with my Sister to see the RSC perform a Peter Pan inspired production. The show, ‘Wendy & Peter Pan’ was glorious, filled with a fat fairy, physical theatre, a huge pirate ship and plenty of flying. I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though the man next to me dozed off and snored through the first half!

We spent a few hours mooching round Stratford before venturing to the theatre. My Sister, Charlotte bought a gorgeous Tartan Dress in the Jack Wills sale and we stocked up on plenty of sweets to scoff through the show!

We’re both lovers of Italian Food and Carluccio’s called to us at lunch time! Charlotte chose the Gnocchi dish, flavoured with gorgonzola and spinach, whereas I had the Penne Giardiniera. I have previously attempted to make this dish using Carluccio’s book ‘Simple Cooking’ and so wanted to taste the ‘real thing!’ The dish was yummy and I found it to be different from many other pasta dishes which are usually creamy or tomato based. The bite size spinach balls were crunchy and full of flavour and because of these, I didn’t get bored eating the pasta halfway through like you do some dishes.

While we ate we each supped a San Pellegrino Limonata. We discovered this drink about a year ago at Jamie’s Italian and have to buy it anywhere we see it because it’s so refreshing and lush. It was perfect for the strangely warm day (which was unexpected and unprepared for, as I wore a jumper!)

The theatre was full of children dressed as characters from peter pan and although some of the displays in the entrance were particularly for them, we enjoyed the Fairy Dresser. The dresser was filled with jars which had digital fairies inside them.

We really enjoyed the show. I loved the new vision of Wendy; a feisty adventurous young woman and particularly enjoyed the section of the show where the girls take on the pirates; Girl Power! I was moved from tears to laughter thanks to the wonderful performance. I loved all of the flying sections, as the actors were hoisted up and swung round over the stage and the audience with everyone gazing in wonderment. As an aspiring Actress, I kept imagining what it would be like to do that. My favourite scene was when Peter and Wendy were lifted up into the air on a white bed which represented a cloud. Peter was explaining to Wendy, how you manage to fly; by thinking of a happy thought and what the stars really were. This was particularly poignant as, at the beginning of the play, Wendy’s brother died and consequently became a star. Stars are all dead children and they shine bright because they are reflections of the tears in their Mother’s eyes. These stars will eventually become ‘lost boys’ when every single member of their family has a moment of ‘true happiness’. The concept was beautiful and I ended up sobbing my heart out, as Wendy began to fly thanks to Peter making her laugh and then her brother appeared in Neverland as he had become a lost boy. Also, the Alligator was a little scary and Smee’s love for Hook was hilarious. I thought the new take on Peter, Wendy, Tink and Neverland was brilliant although the first half was a little slow in pace.

My OOTD was my trusty Zara woolen coat which I purchased in the autumn of 2013 and need no excuse to wear. Just like my bright green scarf, which I adore and my Mum gave me due to my love of Confessions of a Shopaholic and my affinity with Becky Bloomwood, the Girl in the Green Scarf. This was matched with a Zara, hounds-tooth print skirt, a plain black long sleeve fine knit jumper and some flat black biker boots, that were bought in the M&S sale. I also wore my vintage antique solid perfume locket that I received as a gift for Christmas.
