Throwback Thursday: these images were taken about a year ago now.
I was definitely MAD when I did this photo shoot! And I was not far off developing Hypothermia!
This shoot was inspired by this quote:
"All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts..."
And I created it for a competition with the Royal Shakespeare Company. The design proposal was to create an image inspired by this quote for their promotional material. I have since submitted the top photo to the 'Vintage Life' Magazine for the Vintage Beauty of the Month Photo Competition and was one of the finalists for January 2014!
I love being creative and got really imaginative with my design and then the snow came - queue New Ideas and Inspirations!
The blank white canvas looked incredibly dramatic and so I set out to create a vintage style image.
The world was my stage.
I was a player.
I chose a simple white dress from my wardrobe for the first few photos and dragged my Mum & Sister off down to the fields near to my house where we took these shots. When we went it was still snowing and on some of the images you can see the tiny snowflakes. I teamed this dress with Victory Rolls, Red Nails & Red Lips for drama against the white.
I set out in full snow gear; Coat/Gloves/Trousers/Wellies/Hat/Scarf etc - all put on over this plain dress. Then when we got to the field I hopped out of the clothes and put white ballet shoes on to hop across the field to take these images. We took the shots in a rush as I was absolutely freezing and my bare skin began to turn blue very quickly.
I love this photo. It was just after I had begun to re-layer all my clothing and start to warm up! Despite all the snow and how freezing I was, I was still smiling as I was having 'such fun'! When I was getting dressed again - a man walked past with his dogs and shouted "You Crazy Girl"! And at that moment I felt just like Bridget Jones at the end of the first film where she runs up the road after Darcy in her knickers! However I was slightly more covered up than her!
The second part of my shoot...
These images were taken in my back garden. I love the texture the trees behind me give and this looks particularly good on the Black and White Image. I changed my dress for these images to a wedding dress from the 1960's which I previously wore as a costume in a play. I clutched the globe which featured to represent the 'world' and the 'stage'.
This is one of my final Images and I love how I look as I stand out against the background. I unfortunately didn't win the RSC competition however I had a lot of fun creating these images so, practically freezing to death was worth it!
