Blog Readers Meet Margot

Margot is a beautiful 16 month old little girl. I came across this cute auburn haired child after my Mum mentioned that she was central to an internet phenomenon and I should watch this video about her:

Looking at the Photo above, you would think Margot was just an adorable normal child. However, Margot has Blood Cancer and needs a stem cell donor. After watching her video, I couldn't help but cry - you have to have the hardest of hearts not to be moved by her plight. I decided there and then that I wanted to do something to help Margot or help the thousands of others just like Margot. 5 Minutes after watching Margot's story, I had signed up for a stem cell donor pack.

Due to the phenomenon of #swabformargot the Delete Blood Cancer charity was swamped with applications from people willing to become stem cell donors and my donor pack only arrived this weekend. This was just days after it was announced that Margot had got a stem cell match! I am incredibly overjoyed for Margot being able to continue with her treatment and hopefully begin her recovery. I think that the donor is a wonderful person and I hope that someday in the future, I will become a match for someone. 

I am not good with pain and I have had many issues with doctors and hospitals and needles over the years but I really am determined to do this. And in writing this blog post, I hope that I may encourage others to: Register, Swab & Save a Life.

All YOU have to do is....

Register for a stem cell donor pack on the Delete Blood Cancer webpage.

Wait for your donor pack to arrive in the post

Then follow the instructions for swabbing inside your mouth - circling a small area of the inside of your cheek with the swab.

Allow the swabs to dry, before popping them in the envelope and sending this off in the free-post envelope.

Then the wait begins for someone needing your donation.

If someone does require your donation - just think of the beautiful little Margot and how much of a difference you could make to someone's life.
